ABOUT US

Nyahunure Community Organisation (NCO) is a registered, community-based development organization headquartered in Mutoko District, Zimbabwe. Since its inception in 2006, NCO has emerged as a trusted grassroots partner in advancing sustainable development, resilience building, and inclusive community empowerment in rural and marginalised areas. Guided by a strong commitment to local ownership and participatory development, the organisation operates with the core belief that resilient communities are the foundation of national transformation.

NCO's programming is anchored in four thematic pillars: food and nutritional security, women’s economic empowerment, sustainable crop and livestock production, and healthy communities. The organisation has successfully implemented a wide range of projects aimed at improving agricultural productivity, strengthening climate resilience, enhancing livelihoods for women and youth, and promoting access to basic health services, including water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).

Our approach integrates evidence-based strategies with community-led innovations, ensuring that interventions are contextually relevant and sustainable. We apply a systems thinking lens in our work, with cross-cutting emphasis on gender equity, climate adaptation, child protection, and good governance. Over the years, NCO has built a strong reputation for collaboration, transparency, and impact, working closely with government ministries, traditional leadership structures, local authorities, international NGOs, and multilateral partners.

With a team of experienced technical experts and community field facilitators, NCO combines practical knowledge with strategic vision to design and implement high-impact programs. The organisation has also become a learning hub for adaptive programming, community-based monitoring, and resilience planning in complex rural settings.

Nyahunure Community Organisation remains committed to scaling up proven interventions, fostering inclusive rural economies, and supporting national development goals through locally driven solutions.

Nyahunure Community Organisation is a community-based organization headquartered in Mutoko, Zimbabwe. Our mission is to strengthen the resilience of rural communities by promoting inclusive and sustainable development across a range of thematic areas. These include food and nutritional security, women’s economic empowerment, climate-smart crop and livestock production, and healthy, thriving communities. We draw on a strong foundation of expertise in agriculture, public health, governance, gender equality, and community-led economic development. PROJECTS

Project 1:

The Women’s Economic Strengthening for Resilience Project (WESRP), implemented by Nyahunure Community Organisation empowers women and smallholder farmers in Mutoko, Murehwa, and Mudzi districts to transition from subsistence farming to sustainable, market-oriented agribusiness. The project focuses on high-potential value chains such as beans, garlic, and onions, providing targeted support through timely input delivery, access to loans, agronomic training, and capacity building in group governance and financial management.

Project 2:

The Mombe yaAmai Project is a transformative women-centered dairy development initiative aimed at improving rural livelihoods, food and nutrition security, and community resilience in the semi-arid region of Mudzi District. Anchored in principles of inclusivity, climate resilience, and economic empowerment, the project provides vulnerable women, men, and youth with access to improved dairy cattle, training, and market systems.

TESTIMONIALS

"Thanks to Nyahunure’s support, our community now understands the importance of nutrition and hygiene. We were trained on how to grow diverse, nutritious crops and build tippy taps for handwashing. As a Village Health Worker, I’ve seen a big reduction in cases of diarrhea and malnutrition among children. Nyahunure has empowered us to take charge of our own health and well-being."
